Mouse...
I'm going through the Stanley Mouse tapes this week. For those of you who know me, you know I'm an obsessive '60s-era history buff. So, you can imagine how much I enjoyed this interview. The time spent at Stanley's studio is something I'll never forget.
His studio is surrounded by this huge apple orchard. Before the interview, he picked several yellow apples which we ate throughout the day. Each one had this very sweet, distinct taste, and the flavors varied depending on which tree it came from.
Also, for those of you who know Stanley, you know that he is an extremely talented painter. We were surrounded by his beautiful paintings - paintings of women, music-inspired art, etc. It was hard to focus on filming while being surrounded by his amazing body of work.
And lastly, (and most importantly), for those of you who have had the pleasure of meeting Stanley, you know that he is one of the KINDEST, and most GENUINE people you will ever meet. He's got this sparkle in his eyes that immediately makes you aware of the good karma within. (If you've met him, you know what I'm talking about!)
So there we were, eating yellow apples, looking at beautiful paintings, and listening to a first-hand account of the San Francisco scene in the '60s from one of the kindest people walking this earth. I couldn't have asked for a better day.
